A

Government Area of Anambra has collapsed, killing three artisans.
Three artisans have been reportedly killed after a two-storey
building under construction at Ndiagu in Idemili North Local Government
Area of Anambra has collapsed at about 8:00am on Wednesday.
An eye witness disclosed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that
three other persons, who sustained severe injuries from the incident,
were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
It was gathered that those that rushed to the scene of the incident
and assisted in the rescue mission included the Commissioner of Police
in the State, Hosea Karma and the Divisional Police Officer in Ogidi,
Hassan Musa.
The state police boss, Karma, who described the death of the
artisans as 'unfortunate and untimely,' urged the people in the area to
take heart and prayed for the repose of the souls of the dead, adding
that the corpses of the deceased had been taken to Iyi-Enu Hospital’s
morgue.
Chuka Onubogu, the President-General of Ogidi community, attributed
the collapse to substandard building materials, and appealed to
contractors and those involved in building projects to ensure that
genuine materials were used.
